Fostering Food Security, Social Connections, and Resilience in the Saint-Pierre Neighborhood
La P’tite Maison de Saint-Pierre is a home away from home for many and a safe space where community members can come together to strengthen the neighbourhood's network of mutual aid. The community center’s initiatives aim to alleviate poverty among families in the Saint-Pierre neighbourhood and provide a welcoming venue for individuals experiencing isolation.
With the support of The Sun and Truth Foundation, La P’tite Maison has strengthened the food security network in the Saint-Pierre neighbourhood by allocating additional food assistance to the most vulnerable among us, including isolated and single-parent families, newcomers, individuals living alone, and seniors.
Recognizing the need for greater community engagement, La P’tite Maison has orchestrated activities that bring people from all walks of life together. These include preparing healthy takeaway meals in their collective kitchen, hosting summer barbecues, and offering cooking workshops for children. Collectively, these efforts have fostered the development of healthy eating habits, social skills, and a resilient support network.
