Cultivating Biodiversity: Encouraging Native Planting for a Greener Community

In collaboration with the Environmental Action Committee of Montreal Ouest, the Sun and Truth Foundation helped organize a series of public workshops aimed at raising awareness about the importance of native plants.

We invited expert speakers to explore the topic of biodiversity and inspire residents to rethink the role of their lawns. These workshops inspired participants to replace portions of their traditional lawns with native and pollinator-friendly plants.

Participants received native plants to take home and were encouraged to plant them in their yards. They also had the chance to win prizes, including Lufa Farms gift certificates, free gardening consultation, a hammock, and additional native plants. Children took part as well, creating seed bombs to plant at home while learning about the vital role native plants play in supporting local wildlife, pollinators, and healthy ecosystems.
